The 1996 Merlot is a round, user-friendly, plump wine with significantly more character than most Merlots possess. The color is a dark ruby/purple. The wine offers copious amounts of berry fruit intermixed with smoke, herb, and earthy notes. Fruity and succulent, with medium body, and a generous, crowd-pleasing, glycerin-imbued finish, it should be consumed over the next 5-6 years.
