The 2007 STRAVAGANZA is a typical Douro blend Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca aged for 6 months in French oak. Light and silky, with some brightness and a little grip on the finish, this is a straightforward wine with nice flavors, fruity, but without the annoying flamboyant touches that a lot of low end wines have. In its price range it is a pleasing choice for an every day drinker, best on the young side. There were 50,000 bottles produced. Note: data sheets identify Parras Vinhos as the producer, but the bottle does not. What that means is that the wine was purchased by Parras and produced under its supervision, but bottled, distributed, marketed and exported by Goanvi. I have not yet seen a USA label, which may change or add to the producer identification, but given that the only producer identification on this particular Portuguese bottle is Goanvi, I am maintaining that here and until further notice. Either way, just look for the big brand name “Stravaganza” on the front. Drink now-2011.
