The 2005 Monasterio de Santa Ana Monastrell comes from 60-year-old Monastrell vines and was aged 3 months in a mix of French and American oak. Dark ruby in color, it offers up pleasant aromas of mushroom, coffee, and red currants. This is followed by a medium bodied wine with soft tannins and low acidity. A slightly compact finish held down my score. Drink this good value over the next 18 months. Importer: Opici Wines, Glen Rock, NJ; tel. (201) 689-3256
