The serious 2001 Black Butt is a proprietary Bordeaux blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Malbec aged 18 months in French oak, of which 50% was new. Elegant black currant characteristics intermixed with tobacco leaf, licorice, and vanilla are present in the restrained aromatics.
