The 2008 Nuits St. Georges comes across as beautifully perfumed and supple. It shows the more delicate side of Nuits in its soft, silky layers of fragrant red fruit. This sophisticated Burgundy should drink well for at least a handful of years. It is a terrific effort at this level. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2028.
I was quite taken with the handful of 2008 reds I tasted from Remoissenet. The estate likes to pick late and use a fair amount of new oak, an approach that worked beautifully in this vintage, which I prefer to 2009 based on what I have tasted thus far. The 2008s capture the house’s search for textural richness and depth while remaining expressive to their respective sites.
