The tight knit, backward 1997 Zinfandel Zeni Vineyard is low in alcohol (14.8%). It spent 18 months in both French and American oak. Production for this 100% Zinfandel is 187 cases. It needs another 3-6 months of cellaring, and while it may not improve, it will open up given its fleshy, structured personality. All the Zinfandel varietal characteristics - black cherries, pepper, briery fruit - are present in moderately high levels. This wine should drink well for 4-5 years.
