This is a bold and solid wine, built like a little fortress with lots of black fruit padding at the perimeter. The 2013 Barbera d'Alba Mervisano is soft and balanced, spicy on the palate with some astringency. It ages in barrique for 15 months, with 40% new oak. Production is 6,500 bottles strong.
