The 2009 DON is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot, and 5% Syrah that spent 14 months in new French oak. Notions of pain grille, earthy minerals, violets, leather, black currant, and blackberry are followed by a layered, medium- to full-bodied wine with a sense of elegance. Under the fruit the wine has some tannin to lose so give it 4-5 years of additional cellaring and drink it from 2016 to 2024.
