The 2016 Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes Rouge has an uncomplicated bouquet with raspberry and black plum aromas, tightly wound at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy tannin, but there's a good line of acidity even if the finish feels a little “blocky.” A more benevolent vintage would have conferred more finesse and detail, but this will still give several year’s drinking pleasure.
