The 2000 Tuderi offers a bouquet of freshly ground pepper intermixed with sweet Provencal herbs, and an unusual floral component. While lighter and softer than its siblings, with medium body and an attractive personality, I can think of six dozen or so 2000 Cotes du Rhones made between Chateauneuf du Pape and Gigondas priced between $10-15 a bottle that are better than this. This 2000 Italian red should continue to evolve for another 4-5 years. This offering was produced from the indigenous Cannonau grape, which is believed to be related to Grenache. Dettori is a relatively new winery dedicated to old vines and low yields. Even though the wine is impressive, the pricing suggests a degree of arrogance and should be re-evaluated. Nevertheless, this is a promising Italian red.Importer: Vias Imports, New York, NY; tel. (212) 629-0200
