The 2006 Chianti Classico La Tradizione flows onto the palate with masses of rich dark fruit, mocha, chocolate and French oak. The Tradizione is anything but, as it is an extroverted, loaded Chianti Classico far out on the spectrum in terms of its sheer density. Of course, Poggiopiano excels with this style and the Tradizione is another in a line of fine efforts from this property. The generous French oak adds considerable volume, texture, along with scents of mocha, chocolate and spices. A warm, resonating finish rounds this full-throttle Chianti out nicely.
