The 2001 Chardonnay Bien Nacido Vineyard V-Block Reserve (packaged in a heavy bottle) reveals new oak, but that quickly blows away to reveal a moderately intense, attractive, buttery, honeysuckle, and white fruit-scented bouquet. There is good acidity and tight structure, but more volume, weight, and wood than the other cuvees. Although the least expressive of this quartet at present, it is potentially the finest.
