The 2008 Cabernet Reserva represents a change in style with less time in barrel (14 months). It has a more rounded, sensual bouquet with black cherries, pomegranate, melted dark chocolate and a touch of dried herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, with sturdy tannins supporting a framework of dusky, tertiary black fruit. The finish is earthy and broody, but it demonstrates a little more clarity than the 2007. Drink 2013-2018.
Although I was most taken by Loxarel’s cavas, they produce an interesting range of dry whites and reds, predominantly named after Greek gods and representing outstanding value.
