The 2003 Nero di Vite (50% Montepulciano, 50% Sangiovese) is made in a similar over-ripe style with notable intensity in its sweet dark fruit, wild herbs and sweet toasted oak. Today it comes across as less generous than the Morellone, but it also has more structural heft and offers significant potential. It should show at its finest in another few years. The Nero di Vite spent two years in French oak. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2021.
