The 2013 Bolgheri Superiore l'Alberello makes its serious intentions known from the first sniff. The wine opens to a dark and inky black appearance with a powerful ensemble of black fruit, spice, leather and tobacco. The results are integrated and seamless. This is a great vintage of a great Tuscan blend from Coastal Tuscany. It is comprised of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot (aged in oak for 18 months). This wine promises a slow evolution to hold it over the next decade. Delicate endnotes of crushed mineral and tobacco make for an elegant final signature.
