The 2009 Ramon Valle is also Mencia but from 55-year-old vines on slate aged for 6 months in barrel. More deeply colored and revealing a perfume of brooding black fruits along with licorice and espresso, in the glass it is dense, balanced and structured enough to evolve for 1-2 years. This lengthy effort is an outstanding value for drinking over the next 4-5 years.
