The 2001 Chardonnay Collezione De Marchi, quite Burgundian in character in its floral and mineral nose and peach and bergamot flavors, puts the emphasis on fragrance and elegance and is anything but the usual warm-climate, buttery wine from this grape. There are few men in Tuscan wine I admire more than Paolo De Marchi, for me the number one producer in the region for the variety and consistent high quality of his wines. And here it has all been done with sweat and dedication – the capital that was available elsewhere was not available at this estate.Various American importers including Petit Pois, Merion, PA; tel.
