The 2013 Pernand-Vergelesses Combottes, from the vines located behind the village, has a comparatively austere bouquet that opens in the glass to reveal scents of candied orange peel and white peach. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with a keen thread of acidity, good weight of fruit toward the second half that is quite fiery in the mouth, without any volatility. There is something almost Germanic about this Pernand-Vergelesses. It should drink extremely well once in bottle.
