An excellent value in full-flavored, robust, South Australian red, this dense ruby/purple-colored 2004 Shotfire Ridge Barossa Cuvee exhibits loads of concentrated blackberry fruit, medium to full body, sweet tannin, and a long, heady finish. While not complex, it is a savory, mouth-filling, substantial effort to enjoy over the next two years. This successful, reasonably large operation (666 acres) with vineyards dating back to the 1850s offer an assortment of wines under various labels (Milton Park, Terra Barossa, Shotfire Ridge, and William Randall). Their offerings are undeniably seductive, modern-styled, classic South Australian wines exhibiting copious quantities of upfront fruit, full body, and abundant oak. The proprietors claim they “over deliver.”Importers: Kysela Pere et Fils, Winchester, VA; tel (540) 722-9228 and Grape Expectations Wine Imports, Raleigh, NC; tel. (919) 781-1655
