The 2007 Rosso di Montalcino Sorgente is a gorgeous wine laced with perfumed red fruit, flowers, spices and minerals. The wine possesses gorgeous depth, sweet, silky tannins and an exceptional sense of harmony. Subtle notes of tar, smoke and licorice are woven through to the long, sublime finish. This is without question one of the finest Rossos of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2019.
Proprietor Francesco Leanza makes wine loaded with personality. The vineyards are farmed biodynamically, while winemaking is very much traditional in approach. The estate's Brunellos are made from the Piaggione and Teatro vineyards, both located between Montalcino and Castelnuovo dell-Abate.
