A clear step up in quality, the 2012 El Castro de Valtuille is sourced form two different vineyards and it fermented with 30% full cluster in an oak vat and aged in barrique for one year. It starts off with some toasty, smoky notes and some lactic hints around a core of wild red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine-grained tannins and good freshness. A textbook red from Bierzo at a very attractive price. 15,000 bottles were produced in 2012.
