An excellent offering from this backwater appellation, the inexpensive 2003 Vierlas (a blend of Syrah, Merlot, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, and Graciano) exhibits an attractive deep ruby color in addition to a perfume of cherries and black currants, soft tannin, low acidity, and a ripe, plush finish. It is a terrific bistro red to drink over the next 1-3 years. This is a very well-made effort.
