The estate’s 2005 Barbera d’Asti Albera was aged in a combination of large casks (60%) and barrique (40%). This medium-bodied offering reveals a core of dark red fruits, with suggestions of tar and licorice that add complexity. As is typical of the Barberas from Asti, the Albera has characteristics of minerality and lively acidity that make it best suited to the dinner table rather than on its own. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010.These are two pretty wines from Araldica, one of Piedmont’s historic houses.Importer: Vias Imports, New York, NY; tel. (212) 629-0200
