Another late-released 1990, this dark, plum-colored wine displays a spicy, vanillin-scented nose, and rustic, full-bodied flavors dominated by tough tannins. The excellent underlying extraction of fruit is accompanied by a certain astringence and firmness that suggest cellaring may be beneficial. On the other hand, the tannins may turn out to be too excessive for the wine's fruit. Time will tell. I would wait at least two years before pulling the cork on what appears to be a good wine. It should last for up to a decade. Tel. (707) 226-5555
