The 2007 Barbera d’Asti Montebruna is the estate’s entry-level Barbera. Dark wild cherries, smoke, licorice and spices emerge from the Montebruna, all underpinned by the acidity that is the hallmark of Barberas from Asti. Some rough edges remain, but with food this will be an absolutely joyous bottle of wine. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2016.
Braida is best known for their high-end Barberas – Bricco dell’Uccellone and Ai Suma in particular – but these entry-level wines deliver tons of pleasure at far more accessible prices.
