The Syrah Reserva Cem Reis (Herdade da Maroteira) is all Syrah, aged for 16 months in a mixture of new French and American Oak. It comes in at 15% alcohol. Silky and sensual in texture, this has a bright, sunny feel and a very elegant mid-palate that is all about the finesse. It ends with fine flavor, a little oak mingling with fruit. There is some Syrah beefiness underneath, but not a lot. This is more about the elegance. Although this can be approached now, it will likely be better in a couple of years. It should age reasonably well. We'll take that in stages just now. Not imported, this runs around 20 Euros in Portugal. There were just 15,000 bottles produced.
