(70% godello, 20% treixadura and 10% albarino): Bright straw. Fresh pear, melon and tangerine on the fragrant nose, with a minerally nuance that gains power with air. Smooth and dry in the mouth, offering bitter citrus pith and pear skin flavors and a touch of tarragon. The pear note comes back strong on the finish, which clings with very good tenacity and focus. I like the blend of power and finesse here. I also had the chance to revisit the excellent 2012 Peza do Rei Mencia Ribeira Sacra that I reviewed last year and while it still has plenty of life ahead of it, it's pretty delicious now, with lively berry fruit and a refreshing jolt of minerality that bodes well for the wine's future development.
