For some reason, the 2004 Merlot did not perform as well this year as it did in 2005. Perhaps I caught it at a dormant stage as it is a competent, medium-bodied effort revealing notes of mocha, berry fruit, and a touch of herbaceousness. However, the finish seems surprisingly compact and short compared to last year.
