The 2008 424 Red Wine is composed of 39% Cabernet Franc, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, and the balance Malbec and Petit Verdot aged for 20 months in 50% new French oak. Sandalwood, violets, exotic spices, herbs, black currant, and blackberry aromas are followed by an elegant, if slightly lean, wine with attractive, spicy flavors, some finesse, and impeccable balance. Give it 1-2 years to fill out and drink it from 2012 to 2020. Located in Woodinville (along with 70-80 other wineries), Tim Stevens’ first vintage was 2001 with current production at 2500 cases. The vast majority of his fruit is sourced from Yakima Valley.Tel. (425) 424-9463; www.stevenswinery.com
