The 2016 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles felt a little smudged on the nose, quite honeyed with tropical tones, suggesting that it might have been picked a couple of days tardy (something I remarked upon apropos the 2015 last year). The palate actually shows more restraint and better tension than the nose augurs, the acidity well judged and demonstrating spicy, stem ginger notes toward the finish. Not bad, but it could have been better with an earlier picking.
