One 1988 that has fared reasonably well, although it has not lived up to early expectations, is Groffier's 1988 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses. This 1988 still possesses sweet fruit, although most of its early fat, succulence, and charm have disappeared. Complex red and black fruit, smoky wood, and floral notes compete for the taster's attention. After a few minutes, this medium-bodied effort becomes flat in the glass. Nevertheless, this is one wine where the fruit remains relatively intact.
