The 2004 Rasteau Cuvee Prestige makes a liar of anyone who says that Rasteau has a lot going for it but can be too rustic. This is pure silk and seductiveness, with wonderfully refined tannins, beautifully rich black cherry and raspberry flavors intermixed with some truffle, Provencal herbs, and roasted meat smells. It is dense ruby/purple, medium to full-bodied, and just luscious. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.
This relatively small estate has always made fine wines that are classic renditions of Provencal red wines. They are some of my favorites to have with meals at some of the local bistros as they seem to have good restaurant distribution in the south of France.
