The 2013 Estate Reserve Red is a blend of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 15% Syrah and 11% Cabernet Franc with 4% Petit Verdot, matured in 35% new 300-liter barrels for 18 months. It has a better bouquet than the 2012, featuring lively black fruit, bilberry, touches of brine and cedar, and then mint developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin, and quite fresh in the mouth, the brine/estuarine influence returning to lend complexity to the classically styled finish. Excellent.
