The 2005 Pinot Noir “Cote Est” is nearly purple-colored, unusually saturated for this vintage. The nose offers expressive cedar, earth, black cherry and blackberry aromas. This is followed by a medium-bodied wine with gobs of dark fruit flavors, well integrated acidity and tannin, and superb depth and balance. It will evolve for several years and provide pleasure for 15-20 years.
Le Cadeau is a 28-acre micro-estate owned by Tom and Deb Mortimer. Previously flying under The Wine Advocate radar screen, if the wines continue to perform as they did in 2005, Pinot fans everywhere will be jumping on this winery’s mailing list. The three wines are all estate grown and bottled.
