Sausal's 1980 Zinfandel-Private Reserve still reveals an opaque garnet color, huge reserves of fruit, a big, peppery, spicy, herbal, intense bouquet, dense, chewy, rich flavors, and a powerful, authoritative finish. The wine is showing no signs of decline and should drink well for at least another 7-10 years. This full-bodied, dramatic Zinfandel has admirably withstood the ravages of age.
