The red wines begin with the 2005 “Selkirk” Shiraz which was sourced entirely from estate fruit. The wine was aged for 15 months in American oak, 30% new. Purple-colored, it offers a fragrant bouquet of smoke, tobacco, pepper, and blueberry. This leads to a full-bodied, supple-textured wine with ample black fruit flavors, soft tannins, and an elegant personality. It has enough stuffing to evolve for 6-8 years but it can be enjoyed now. The 2005 “B.O.V.” Shiraz (55%) – Cabernet Sauvignon (45%) is sourced entirely from estate vineyards. It is a limited cuvee with only 100 cases produced. Opaque purple/black in color, the complex aromatics reveal pain grille, spice box, blueberry, licorice, and coconut. In the mouth the wine is full-bodied with flavors of blackberry, mulberry, and a hint of Mounds candy bar. The wine has excellent balance and a long, fruit-filled finish.
