A blend of 97% Grenache and just 3% Shiraz, the 2008 Fakir Grenache gives a pale garnet color and very spicy, warm bramble berry nose with some dried leaves and forest floor notes. Medium to full-bodied with a medium level of chewy tannins, it has a high level of balanced acid and a long finish. Drink it now to 2015. Magpie Estate is a joint venture between the talented Barossa based produced Rolf Binder and UK wine merchant Noel Young. Coming through some difficult vintages, the line-up here remains solid with some very good to excellent wines to recommend. Note that no 2007 or 2008 Gomersal Grenache or Malcolm Shiraz were produced though a sneak-preview of barrel samples of the 2009 vintage of these wines promises something special to come.Importer: Total Beverage Solutions, Mount Pleasant, SC
