Adjacent to Rolf Binder's Heysen Vineyard, this stunning Shiraz achieved 14.5% alcohol, naturally, from yields of only 1.8 tons of fruit per acre. Bottled unfiltered, it boasts a dense purple color as well as a gorgeous nose of sweet French oak, blueberry and cassis fruit, acacia flowers, and intriguing hints of pepper and camphor in the background. This impressive, full-bodied effort magically combines the power of Barossa with elegance and restraint, providing a serious mouthful of intensely pure black and blue fruit. Although accessible, my instincts suggest it will be even better with an additional 4-6 years of bottle age. It should age for 12-15 years.Importer: Peter Weygandt, Weygandt-Metzler, Unionville, PA; tel. (610) 486-0800
