The 2004 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico offers up candied orange peel, tobacco, mint and honey in a rich, oxidative style that nicely balances the warm tones of Vin Santo with superb texture and mouthfeel. The long, creamy finish leaves a lasting impression. The estate’s Vin Santo is made from Trebbiano and Malvasia, with the traditional method of extended aging in small casks. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2024. Badia a Coltibuono has come on strong in recent years. It’s hard to tell to what extent, if any, the conversion to biodynamic farming is playing in the quality of the wines, but the bottom line is that today Badia a Coltibuono is making the best and most consistent wines of its history.Importer: Dalla Terra, Napa, CA; tel.
