In total contrast to the 1995s, Michel's 1994 Cornas selections possess sweeter fruit, deeper ruby/purple colors, and more cassis-dominated characteristics. They are lower in acidity, which gives the wines an accessible, chewy texture. The rustic 1994 Cornas La Geynale reveals sweeter fruit than the Cuvee de Coteaux, greater ripeness, more tannin, and medium to full body. Its opaque purple color, and outstanding ripeness suggest this wine could improve over the next decade, and perhaps merit a higher score. It will keep for 15 years.Importer: Robert Chadderdon Selections, New York, NY; tel. (212) 757-8185
