The 2009 Salvation Gewurztraminer presents a really spicy nose over notes of lime juice, pineapple, ripe melon and an earthy hint of crushed stones. Medium-bodied and dry with just a touch of sweetness (7 grams per liter), the palate is crisp and zesty with some Turkish delight and rose water notes in the long finish. Drink it now to 2013. Magpie Estate is a joint venture between the talented Barossa based produced Rolf Binder and UK wine merchant Noel Young. Coming through some difficult vintages, the line-up here remains solid with some very good to excellent wines to recommend. Note that no 2007 or 2008 Gomersal Grenache or Malcolm Shiraz were produced though a sneak-preview of barrel samples of the 2009 vintage of these wines promises something special to come.Importer: Total Beverage Solutions, Mount Pleasant, SC
