The 2009 Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard is my personal favorite. It offers up an inviting nose of balsam wood, exotic spices, incense, black cherry, and black raspberry. This leads to a velvety-textured, layered, plush, nicely proportioned wine with excellent balance, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. This pure, intense Pinot has the stuffing to evolve for another 1-2 years and will deliver prime drinking from 2012 to 2021.
Ken Wright Cellars’ 2009 Pinot Noirs range from excellent to outstanding in quality but generally lack the structure, density, and richness of the great 2008 vintage. These are pretty, elegant wines to drink while the 2008s continue to fill out in the cellar.
