Jaboulet produced Cornas in both 1991 and 1990. The 1990 Cornas is showing better than it did last year. It is more tannic and austere, with a forceful, spicy, peppery, herb, and earth-scented nose. Medium to full-bodied, with considerable tannins but excellent concentration, this wine needs 5-6 years of cellaring. It should last for 12-15 years.
Having gone through Jaboulet's 1990 red wine offerings five times (four for the Hermitage-La Chapelle), I must say that this is the firm's best overall year since 1961.
