The 2004 Cabernet-Merlot displays an excellent perfume of cedar, herbs, baking spices, violets, cassis, and black currant. Medium to full-bodied and relatively forward on the palate, it has ample ripe fruit, a slightly reticent personality, and good length. It can be enjoyed now and over the next 6-8 years. Kiona Vineyards and Winery has been producing wine since 1980 (and growing grapes for considerably longer than that). It has long been a puzzle because its grapes are in great demand, but Kiona itself has had difficulty taking advantage of their superior farming.
