The heat of the 2003 vintage did nothing but good for this house’s Dolcetto vineyards, among the highest in the zone, but Aldo Vajra has long been known for his sure hand with the variety. The focused black cherry fruit, almonds, and licorice of the 2003 Dolcetto d’Alba are offered in a round and supple format, quite full for a wine of this type and with excellent continuity. I would suggest taking advantage of the sheer pleasure offered by the wine by drinking it in its first exuberant youth.
