The 2009 Pinot Noir Serpentine Reserve is sourced from a particular block of the estate vineyard planted to Dijon clone 777. The wine was fermented with 25% whole clusters, went through ML in second use French oak where it remained for 10 months. Medium ruby red in color, it offers up a pleasing perfume of cinnamon, clove, rose petal, cherry, and raspberry. In the glass savory mineral notes make an appearance along with ample, spicy red fruits. Nicely balanced and moderately lengthy, it will provide enjoyment for another 6-8 years. Bishop Creek Cellars began planting in 1988 but did not produce their first vintage until 1999. They continue to sell grapes while producing about 1000 cases annually under their own label.www.bishopcreekcellars.com
