The 2006 Syrah Les Galets is a killer wine from Arroyo Grande. Dense purple to the rim, with an extraordinary nose of incense, blackberry and blueberry liqueur, graphite, and flowers, the wine is full-bodied and rich, with velvety tannins, but layers and layers of concentration. The sweetness of the tannins and the attractive underlying minerality give vibrancy and delineation to this big, blockbuster style of Syrah. It should drink nicely for 10-12 more years.
