Marionnet, a terrific wine taster, is one of the Loire Valley's most underrated winemakers. The 1996 Sauvignon (100% Sauvignon from yields of just over 2 tons per acre) possesses 13% natural alcohol, and gobs of Sauvignon characteristics. The expressionistic bouquet of melon, honey, and minerals is followed by a medium-bodied, crisp, stylish, floral-styled wine with fresh acidity, lively, concentrated fruit, and a fine finish. High quality fruit, in addition to top-notch winemaking, are well-displayed. Drink it over the next 12-18 months. Best buy.Importer: Peter Weygandt, Weygandt-Metzler, Unionville, PA; tel (610) 932-2745
