Readers desiring an introduction to the Chave mystique are well-advised to check out his red wine made from the hillsides of St.-Joseph. It will not last more than a decade, but it is a deliciously ripe, pure, elegant, cassis and cherry-scented wine with plenty of fruit and charm. The 1995 St.-Joseph should drink well for 5-8 years.Longtime Chave enthusiasts will be thrilled to hear that Chave's spectacular 1995s are among the greatest successes in the Rhone Valley. Furthermore, the 1994s, now that they are in bottle, are even stronger than my commentary last year suggested.Importers: Langdon Shiverick, Cleveland, OH; tel.
