De Marchi’s 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Collezione De Marchi is a powerful effort that reflects the qualities of this challenging vintage. Although it offers plenty of fruit and a full-bodied texture, it also possesses an imposing tannic structure. Bottle age may help to some extent but the 2003 doesn’t appear to have the elegance of the 2001 that was tasted alongside it. De Marchi says the wine’s tannic personality comes from grapes that were so dried out from the heat they contained very little juice. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2018.
